Parts Tools Case & Power supply (ATX) Philips Screwdriver Motherboard (ATX) Flat Screw Driver Processor (CPU) Needle-nose Pliers Memory (RAM) Flashlight Video Card (AGP) Firewire/IEEE 1394 Card Software Floppy Drive Boot Disk Hard Drive (IDE) Windows XP Pro Install Disk CD-RW (IDE) Linux Install Disks Removable Drive Bay (IDE) Windows 98 Install Disk Keyboard (PS2/USB) Antivirus Mouse (PS2/USB) Hardware Driver Disks Hardware: Read the motherboard and CPU manuals. Understand ESD. Open the case, remove both side panels and the motherboard mount. Insert the back plate. (Pay attention to orientation.) Separate and identify screws. Install case feet. Install motherboard stand-offs and the motherboard. (Pay attention to orientation and hole placement.) Replace the motherboard mount. (Check which hole is used for the mount screw.) Install the processor. (Lift the lever, set the CPU oriented correctly, close lever.) Install the processor heat-sink/fan. (Lift levers and close levers, plug in electrical power.) Install the memory modules. (Check for slot # and orientation, open levers, push down until it snaps.)
