Content Inside: Personalize Your Canon PowerShot Startup Screen This is fairly simple procedure to personalize your PowerShot Camera with a distinct Start-Up Screen. Other than looking cool another advantage is that the camera has built in personal identification. Since the image resides in the camera and not on the memory card, it is somewhat permanent. One is able to add an original Start-up images and sounds using a ZoomBrowserEX built-in program called My Camera Maker. If you do not have ZoomBrowserEX the latest version can be downloaded from the Canon download library. Go here: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=DownloadIndexAct and select the Digital Cameras, Camera Type and Camera Model from the drop down lists. Then select Drivers/Software to gain access to the download. The manual entitled Software Starter Guide For the Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk Version 29 ships with the camera and contains directions on how to change the start-up screen. It too is available in the Canon Download library. If you go to the section entitled Adding New Data to the My Camera Window there is a complete set of direction on how to use Create My Camera Data. Notes on image prep. (see addendum below for image prep and save directly from Photoshop). A standard .JPG image should work ok. However, if you first want to customize you image in Photoshop follow these guidelines. 1. Open the background image in Photoshop or other photo editing program and crop image size to 640 x 480 pixels, 72DPI 2. Add additional layers and text and then flatten the image 3. Save as a .JPG and be sure to select Baseline ("Standard") under format options in the .jpg Options save window. Here is the short version on changing the start-up screen 1. Open ZoomBrowserEX 2. Click on Edit in the task bar at the top and select Manage My Camera from the drop down list 3. My Camera window will open, select Set Individually 4.
