Content Inside: Grade Range: 1st grade and up Difficulty Rating: Easy Time: approximately 20-30 minutes for project Categories: Recycle, Fabric, Summer, Game Tabletop Mini Golf Miniature golf indoors? A fun project to do on a rainy day and follow up with another day of play. What you will need: Pencil Chenille stem; any color Recycled items, clean and dry (juice cans, yogurt cups, toilet paper tubes, etc.) Scissors (need to be able to cut through cardboard and plastic) Paint, acrylic or tempera Paintbrush Water in container (to wash brush out) Newspaper to cover work area Lace scraps Fabric scraps Buttons, beads, bows, any type of odds and ends Glue, school or tacky (tacky will set up quicker) Glitter glue or glitter paint (optional) Pompon ball, any size and color Decorated shoeboxes for storage 1. Take one end of the chenille stem and roll about half of it into a flat oval. Take the rest of the chenille stem and wind up around the pencil to create golf club. Set aside. 2. Cut holes in opposite sides of mini golf "buildings" (see photograph). Make the holes large enough to fit the pompon ball. 3. Paint the items as desired. 4. Glue embellishments on the mini golf buildings. Add glitter glue, if desired. 5. Let dry overnight. 6. Use shoeboxes the children have decorated to hold their games and keep all their pieces together. This makes it easy for storing the games for a rainy day. Notes: Glue and dry glitter may be used but there will be more of a mess to clean up. Allow extra drying time when children use glitter glue because they usually use much more of it and there will be pools of glue needing to dry before being moved. 2006 abcteach.com
