Content Inside: Lord of the Ring - The Two Towers Everyone probably know something about the Lord of the ring trilogy. Either read or seen. This is a review about the film version of the second book Lord of the Ring The two Towers. This amazing story, originally written by J.R.R. Tolkien is one of the most honoured high fantasy novels ever. The director Peter Jackson had a really big task to please the crowd and make this story even more memorable. It's all about a ring. A ring that brings death and hell. It's got to be destroyed. The young hobbit, Frodo, is the only one to do it. Though the only way to maximum destruction is to throw it in the mountain of fire. He'll have to make a long journey, through places were no hobbit should be. Meanwhile Frodo is getting closer, the ring gets heavier and he's feeling worse and worse. Saruman and his army is desperate to get the ring, and a war breaks out. The main character, Frodo, is a hobbit. A hobbit is a very small person, not more than about one meter tall. Frodo's the only one to take the ring to the mountain of fire, which actually is the main goal of the whole story. Then we have the ents. An ent is a living three. They're living in the woods, just standing there like ordinary threes. But if something or someone interrupt them, they "wake up" and become living just like a human. Finally, there's the orcs. The orcs are ugly and dangerous, and have only one mission to kill. They're apart of Saurons army. There is no word to describe the surroundings, and time. Because this is something foreign for us. We don't know how Tolkien would have described his "own world". Still you can fantasize about it yourself. But we do know that the adaption of the screen is played in New Zeeland. Now it's time for me to give thoughts about the film, what's good and what's bad? I'll try to talk just about the adaption of the screen, and not the book itself. I will start to say that I think this is a masterpiece. Director Peter Jackson has made a really good and hard effort , since the author of the book is dead, he and his crew had to build up scenes from their own fantasies. They've really made a good job! The costumes are well made, and same goes for the special effects. I can give thoughts forever because there is so much to describe and pay tribute to. The only problem is to find something bad about it. And after thinking of things to criticize, I only came up with one thing, - the lenght of the film. It probably could not been any shorter, there is nothing bad about the long story. But it's not a film to see if you're in a hurry. Johan Lundkvist BP07, October 2007 English A
